Welcome to Tain – a small historic Highland town situated on the shores of the beautiful Dornoch Firth around 10 miles from the beautiful seaside resort of Dornoch and 12 miles from Invergordon. If you are driving the long road north and need a break Tain is definitely worth the detour off the A9 and also acts as a great base to explore more of the spectacular region of Ross & Cromarty.
The town offers a good range of facilities, attractions & activities for locals & visitors alike – wander through the town where you can spend local in a number of small independent shops while admiring the beautiful architecture, visit Tain Museum where you can learn more of the local history (it’s a fascinating story), for the more adventurous spend a day on the water paddle boarding or kayaking, if walking is your thing head to the forest where you can walk all the way to Ullapool or visit some of the fantastic castles that surround the town – whatever you do if you’re passing through, stop and stay for a while and enjoy ‘What’s on’ offer in Tain.
