Welcome to Port Glasgow – the second largest town within the council area of Inverclyde, situated on the southern shore of the River Clyde around 4 miles from Greenock & 18 miles from Glasgow. The area can trace its history back to the 16th century when it was called Newark, whose castle still stands on the banks of the Clyde today.
Since the decline of the area's heavy industries in the 1990sthere has been a good deal of regeneration going on in the town with the creation of the Port Glasgow Retail Park and a number of new modern homes – not typically a tourist destination but, if you’re passing through stop and stay for a while and enjoy 'What's on' offer in Port Glasgow!
